March 13, 2020
After a great effort to move forward, it is with deep regret that the 2020 Iowa Rabbit Festival has been cancelled and will not take place this year. The safety and well-being of the community, artists, entertainers, vendors, staff, volunteers, and every person involved ultimately is of the utmost importance during this time.
Today, through the State of Louisiana Executive Department, Governor John Bel Edwards has signed and put into place Proclamation Number JBE 2020-27 stating the following pertaining to events and gatherings:
Section 1: In an effort to reduce and limit the spread of COVID-19 in Louisiana, and to preserve the health and safety of all members of the public, all gatherings of 250 people or more between Friday, March 13, 2020 and Monday, April 13, 2020 shall be postponed or cancelled. This applies only to gatherings in a single space at the same time where individuals will be in close proximity to one another. It does not apply to normal operations at locations like airports, medical facilities, shopping centers or malls, office buildings, factories or manufacturing facilities, or grocery or department stores. This provision may be extended beyond Monday, April 13, 2020 by further order.
Please know that The Iowa Rabbit Festival will continue in 2021. Updates and news can be found on our website iowarabbitfestival.org and on our Iowa Rabbit Festival Facebook page.
Also know that you may still support the artists and vendors scheduled for the cancelled 2020 event on their websites, through future local events, and by sharing their work.
Thank you all for your continued support and understanding of this matter.
